RampRate to Host Wine Tasting At GigaOm's
Structure 08 VIP Cocktail Reception

Taking place the evening of June 24th at Pier 38 in San Francisco, an exclusive VIP Cocktail Reception will be held to gather key influencers and executives who are driving the reinvention of Internet infrastructure. It is an evening to mingle with speakers, press, and sponsors of GigaOm's Structure 08 and enjoy a lively exchange of ideas over a glass of wine and
hors d'oeuvres.

RampRate and CEO Tony Greenberg will be hosting a blind wine tasting for VIP attendees based on RampRate's proprietary Service Provider Intelligence Index (SPYIndex™) methodology that accurately and fairly measures providers in a neutral, side-by-side comparison. Participants can casually drop by the RampRate table at the cocktail party and sample 3 white wines and 3 red wines as selected by Taste Media LLC.

So what's the connection between wine and information technology?

Wine, it turns out, is a little like IT suppliers. There are dozens of vineyards, creating thousands of offerings, of varying quality, price and reputation. People love wine, but can't always figure out what wines fit their needs, price points and tastes.

In similar fashion, there are dozens of IT suppliers, providing many kinds of services, at varying levels of quality and reliability, and widely varying prices. Many companies struggle to identify the right IT suppliers for their needs, and face challenges in constructing contracts that will guarantee they get what they've paid for. And often, the most expensive wine, or the most expensive IT supplier – however reputable their pedigree – is not necessarily the

Participants may rank the wines on a score card according to how they perceive the wines – Super-Premium, Premium, or Value. The following week all participants are emailed a password to a private RampRate SPYIndex™ website where the wines are revealed. Participants can check their accuracy against in how well they scored the wines, see which wines they chose as their favorite, and see how they did against the group.
